Installation
The work is an exploration of life stories explained through the tenuous relationships that we share with others. The fine lines between power and powerlessness, control and surrender are portrayed through the dentist/patient relationship. Fear and anxiety are felt through dental phobia as our direct and
indirect experiences shadow our displacement from the event.
This visual scene evokes memories of our other sensory experiences, and consequently brings them to the forefront of our present reality.The work explores the notion of our claim to our own personal body, and the subsequent invasion of that realm, our helplessness and perceived lack of control. It examines our notions of morbidity, unease and discomfort, whilst allowing us to linger and explore an environment previously off limits.
